Updated January 2024 – The CDHQ team researched and updated the information regarding the Accepted Vehicles for Lyft Lux, Black, and XL Drivers at the beginning of January 2024.

The Lyft car list is your go-to when it comes to determining what service types your car will qualify for. One of the great benefits of being a rideshare driver is that there are many different service types you can provide.

For instance, If you drive an SUV you will be able to drive as a Lyft XL driver, and if you drive a fancy Mercedes you can drive with Lyft Lux!

More service types mean an increase in the number of rides you can provide to Lyft’s customers, which means more income for you.

If your vehicle is not accepted during sign up get in touch with the Lyft Driver services team to see if you qualify.

Opting in to Lyft Lux and Lyft Black Ride Requests

In order to start taking rides from either Lyft Lux or Lyft Black you will need to opt-in to the service type.

You can do this through the Lyft driver app under the Vehicles tab.

Find the section for Ride Preferences and choose from one of the following options.

  • Accept all eligible ride types: all ride types your vehicle qualifies for
  • Accept Lyft Lux rides only: Lyft XL, Lyft Lux, Lux Black, and Lux Black XL rides
  • Accept Lux Black only: Lux Black and Lux Black XL rides

If you choose to use only the top tier services like Lux, you might see a decrease in the amount of ride requests you get. This is because you are making yourself available to a smaller pool of riders.

Smaller number of riders means a smaller number of ride requests.
