Before you can hit the road and start your new side hustle you will need to bring your vehicle in for an inspection at a licensed garage.
The garage will look at the condition of you tires, windows, brakes, mirrors, lights, and seatbelts. The main focus of the inspection is to ensure that your vehicle is safe for you and your passengers so you can drive safely and successfully.
Lyft also likes their drivers to drive clean good looking vehicles so the inspection will also look at the cosmetic condition of your vehicle. Your vehicle should pass as long as there is no major damage, fading paint or severe wear.

Lyft Vancouver Insurance Requirements
The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) will provide a blanket insurance certificate to Lyft and other rideshare companies operating in BC.
For drivers this means that while they are on a trip with Lyft they are covered. Once drivers are no longer in trip, they are back on their own personal insurance plan.
The basic rideshare insurance plan will cover drivers up to $1 million in liability and $300,00 in accident benefits.
ICBC has also created an insurance plan for drivers using services like Turo or Outdoorsy. It is a blanket insurance policy that is purchased by the platforms and will cover the vehicle owners.
Commercial driver insurance is not required, however, you should check with your personal insurance provider to make sure you are covered while operating as a rideshare driver.
