TappCar Calgary Driver Requirements
- Be over 25 years old
- Class 4,2 or 1 driver license
- Have a Driver’s Abstract dating back 5 years with no more than 7 demerits
- Calgary police service criminal background check, with a vulnerable sector check, dating back at least 7 years
- Proof of Status to legally work in Canada like Canadian citizen card, permanent resident’s card, work permit or Canadian Passport
- Have or be willing to procure a vehicle that is newer than 5 years old
- Have an Annual Mechanical Inspection on your vehicle
- Auto insurance copy of “Rideshare Insurance” with insurance details and business kilometers
*TappCar Drivers do not have to pay City Livery fees once they are activated with TappCar

Taxes as a TappCar Driver
The taxes you will have to pay include CPP (Canadian Pension Plan contributions), EI (Employment Insurance), Federal and Provincial Income tax. You should consult with an accountant who can tell you how much to save from your earnings, especially if you have another job.

Drivers are fully covered while driving with TappCar will be provided with insurance through the SPF 9 policy.
If you already have Ride Share insurance please bring a copy of detailed Automobile insurance certificate when you sign up with TappCar. The policy should state the details and the business kilometers. Rideshare drivers in Alberta are required to hold the “Rideshare Insurance” policy. Drivers are also required to ensure their brokers know they are operating as a rideshare driver.
Tappcar provides coverage for drivers from the moment they click accept ride to the customers exit from the vehicle. Drivers are still required to get the “Rideshare Insurance ” (SPF1) policy from their brokers
